Job Summary
The Director of Accounting and Finance is responsible for entering, verifying, and evaluating financial transactions, producing accurate financial reporting, ensuring the integrity of financial systems and records, and overseeing accounting, finance, and related order processing activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Define and help continuously improve accounting processes and systems to meet company objectives.
- Lead month-end close and present accurate financial statements and management reporting according to defined corporate schedule.
- Accurately reconcile ledgers, accounts, balances, statements, and internal systems in a timely manner
- Find, correct, and report on errors or issues discovered in financial data.
- Support preparation of corporate budget and track and analyze performance variances.
- Oversee and manage work of AR/AP and order processing staff to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with company policies.
- Manage corporate AR balances, credit granted, and credit hold decisions.
- Ensure proper accounting, reporting, filing, and compliance with sales taxes.
- Maintain accurate balances in all customer and partner accounts.
- Manage facility leasehold accounting and payments for corporate and warehouse locations.
- Monitor and process inbound and outbound wire transactions and issue payments according to company processes and approvals.
- Accurately record cash receipts, deposits, invoices, purchases, and payables
- Ensure all externally required tax and financial reporting is prepared and filed either directly or by collaborating with firms selected and approved by the company.
- Perform payroll, 401k, and benefits processing and financial entries directly or by collaborating with firms selected and approved by the company.
- Monitor and quickly alert management regarding major discrepancies or concerns with any transaction, data or trend differing from company’s expectations and policies.
- Ensure information is backed up, kept confidential and help improve internal controls.
- Comply with federal, state, local and company policies, procedures, and regulations as well as generally accepted accounting practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 5 years’ experience in relevant accounting, bookkeeping and month end close experience.
- Proven experience performing essential duties and responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Salesforce and other Microsoft Office tools highly desirable
- Proven customer service orientation and effective collaboration and negotiation skills
- Strong analysis and judgement skills
- Personal accountability, ethics, and integrity in achieving results.
