Job Summary:
The Revenue Manager plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant revenue recognition while supporting the company’s growth and scalability. This role is responsible for
reviewing contracts, applying ASC 606 guidance, and partnering with cross-functional teams—including Sales, Legal, Finance, and Operations—to optimize deal structures and
revenue policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting background, impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to provide proactive strategic insights to executive
leadership. In addition to managing revenue processes, the Revenue Manager will drive process improvements, support audits, and provide training on revenue recognition best practices.
The Revenue Manager will report to the VP/Controller and will have responsibility for:
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive contract reviews to determine appropriate revenue accounting treatment, ensure compliance with ASC 606, and document conclusions with clear, audit-ready support.
- Oversee and ensure the accurate recording of monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue journal entries, maintaining proper documentation and controls.
- Partner closely with Sales, Legal, and Finance teams to evaluate deal structures, proactively advising on contract terms to align with revenue recognition policies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain revenue recognition policies, ensuring alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and evolving business models.
- Identify potential revenue recognition risks, providing balanced recommendations to deal teams and executive leadership to support informed decision-making.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on revenue recognition processes, supporting new product launches, business model expansions, and evolving revenue streams.
- Collaborate with Sales and Operations teams to understand business, system, or process changes that may impact revenue recognition, scalability, or internal controls.
- Partner with the Billing manager to ensure revenue is billed and reported appropriately.
- Provide robust audit documentation of each contract and other ad hoc audit support as necessary.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives to support company growth and operational excellence.
Skills You Must Have:
- CPA strongly preferred; Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting preferred, other degrees considered.
- 6-10 years of relevant experience, preferably in SaaS or technology industries.
- Deep knowledge of ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition); demonstrated experience in applying technical accounting guidance to complex contracts.
- Strong ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, working effectively across sales, legal, finance, and operations to drive revenue recognition best practices.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess business impacts, identify revenue risks, and recommend solutions.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex accounting topics into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to assess and optimize revenue recognition processes, ensuring scalability and alignment with business growth.
- Excellent organizational, management, analytical & decision-making skills.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and SOX compliance, with experience preparing audit-ready documentation.
- Skilled at mentoring and training teams on revenue recognition policies, ensuring alignment across the organization.
- Resourceful, results-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high accuracy and integrity.
