SUMMARY
Performs accounting duties within the department and assists with accounting projects.
Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for daily and month-end balancing and accounting for bank official checks.
- Responsible for accounts payable general ledger coding & posting of daily invoices to accounts payable software.
- Responsible for various month-end reporting and balancing for management and board.
- Daily balancing of General Ledger Suspense and General Ledger out-of-balance accounts.
- Assists in duties for various functions in the accounting department to include prepaid accounting.
- Responsible for month end review and/or balancing of various general ledger accounts with adequate documentation provided in Adra Balancer software.
- Primary and/or backup for various functions in the accounting area to include reconciliation of various due from bank accounts, fixed assets accounting, asset inventory, etc.
- Responsible for being the accounting department contact to monitor and escheat the outstanding official checks for annual escheat processing with bank official checks.
- Responsible for being the accounting department contact to monitor and report 1099 Misc. tax amounts on accounts payable vendors & individuals.
- Responsible for monitoring system generated general ledger reports such as online transaction entry, ATE reports, etc. to maintain adequate controls over various types of transaction risk.
- Assist with various projects and functions necessary to improve accounting systems.
- Responsible for Business Continuity Plan processes as it pertains to the Accounting Department.

SECONDARY DUTIES
The position of Accounting & Accounts Payable Coordinator performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The position of Accounting & Accounts Payable Coordinator has no supervisory responsibilities.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The employee is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The position includes driving a Bank or personal owned vehicle approximately 5% of the time which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.
The employee in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.
The employee for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, beeper, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), check protector, microfilm equipment, encoder, money counter, credit card terminal, typewriter, computer terminal, personal computer and related printers.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- Associate degree in Accounting or 2 years accounts payable/general accounting experience.
- Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank policies.
- Proficient skills in operating a desktop computer that includes proper file management, core banking or business systems, specialty software programs, and Microsoft Office products.
- Basic typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
- Proficient math skills; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent.
- Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work with general supervision while performing duties.
- Current Arkansas driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
