About the Team
ReMedi's Chart Abstraction team ensures healthcare organizations and clinicians are set up for success by preparing quality patient medical records within their new EHR systems. This role is critical for ensuring patient safety within health systems and demands thorough data analysis and attention to detail, along with team collaboration and a positive attitude. ReMedi's Chart Abstraction team is led by clinically experienced doctors and nurses, and all training and supervision is led by a talented and passionate leadership team.
About the Role
As Chart Abstractor, you will contribute to the analysis and migration of medical data between legacy and modern Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems at various hospitals and health networks across North America. You will be responsible for optimizing the quality of patient data, working closely with internal and external team members, and improving the accuracy and reliability of medical patient charts throughout the project. This role reports to Chart Abstraction Team Leads and the Director of Chart Abstraction.
This role is based in our Houston, TX HQ office in Downtown Houston. We do not offer remote options or relocation assistance to new job candidates.
In this role, you will:
- Complete a comprehensive training program to learn legacy and modern EHR systems, as well as the ins and outs of a medical patient chart.
- Support Team Lead goals and initiatives including specific data analysis, meeting patient-driven timelines, and custom requests from health systems.
- Analyze existing patient records and identify issues, work with the team to determine the best solution, and abstract the optimal patient data into the new EHR system.
- Use internal communication tools to work in partnership with Team Leads, Directors, and other Abstractors in order to improve the data abstraction process.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality for all patient and medical data.
You might thrive in this role if you have:
- Experience in healthcare, medical coding and billing, data entry, and a basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience navigating challenging data problems and working with a team to derive the best solution.
- Intermediate or higher proficiency with Microsoft Tools such as Excel, Teams, and Forms.
- Strong organization skills, ability to set priorities, and meet concurrent deadlines.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, especially working directly with clinicians.
- Bonus if you have experience with electronic health record systems (EHRs) and/or experience with Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, Meditech and other EHRs.
All Chart Abstractors will begin as 1099 contractors with the opportunity to grow into a full time role.
Other notes:
- Prior healthcare experience is preferred, but not required. We are prepared to train the right candidates who are interested in the healthcare IT field and eager to learn.
- Paid college internships are available to students interested in the healthcare IT industry.
- Ability to work extended hours is an option, not mandatory. Shift time: 8:30a-4:30p.
- Contract dates are immediate to August 30th, 2023. Extensions are possible. We thrive on utilizing our in-house trained abstractors for ongoing and future projects.
