Overview
The Foreman will ensure that the RECON team on site is performing work safely and within the scope of the contract. Will work closely with the Superintendent and Project Manager to provide leadership and day to day support to the crew onsite to promote a culture of safety in accordance with the strategic goals of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of Laborers and Equipment Operators onsite performing the earthwork; including planning, scheduling, direct oversight and reviewing work
- Plan and assess the priorities of the project, assign each employee to the appropriate position, schedule the work and then review performance and productivity of the crew daily
- Ensure employees onsite have the proper tools and equipment needed to perform the work safely and manage daily productivity and output
- Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed at all times, update safety kits in case of emergency situations during work hours onsite
- Assist with all orientation and training of new RECON employees and help them learn new skills and perform at their highest level
- Ensure all company and client rules and policies are followed by the crew on the jobsite
- Manage time wisely and complete project work safely, meet deadlines without sacrificing the quality of work being done or employee safety and well being
- Ensure tools and equipment are returned from the construction sites
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED equivalent and/or previous work experience as a Foreman in the construction industry with strong leadership skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed to interact in a helpful and professional manner
- Ability to prepare and coach employees on a construction site to promote the culture of safety
- Must be able to identify complex problems, review related information to develop and evaluate options, then implement solutions that consistently support the goals of the organization
- Must be resourceful in accomplishing work tasks and obtaining needed information
- Ability to travel to construction sites as needed to oversee crew and project work with a rotation back home monthly
- Must be willing to work in a construction environment that includes: potential exposure to dust, noise, toxic materials, waste and infectious materials, as well as working in inclement weather conditions
