ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Compliance Technician to join our team in the Precision Investment Casting industry. As a Quality Assurance Compliance Technician, you will assist with the development, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of methods, procedures, and programs to assure product quality, assist with maintaining the certifications of the Food Safety Program and the Quality Management System, comply with applicable safety/health regulations and all required Environmental standards at all REMET Corporation (US) and fully owned subsidiaries sites.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System to assure compliance with the current ISO 9001 standard at all US locations.  Coordinate with all departments to ensure that documented procedures and work instructions are developed, maintained current and followed.
  • Participate in annual ISO site assessments.
  • Assist with the management of the internal audit program through development and issuance of an annual audit schedule, creation/revision of audit templates, performing audits, and issuing status reports to management. Performance includes annual on-site audits.
  • Assist with the administration of the corrective and preventive action program through assignment, tracking, and effective and timely follow-up on Corrective Action Requests issued internally, received from customers, or resulting from third party audits.
  • Assist with the development, performance, and/or coordination of training and retraining programs to ensure employee awareness of the Quality Management System, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) issues, documentation revisions, and audit findings.  Maintain training records for each location, update files for all training completed, track employee status against position requirements, and assist in development of new position guides as necessary.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining the Calibration Report for all US locations to ensure that Inspection, Measurement and Test Equipment is calibrated on schedule.
  • Complete customer-issued Supplier Surveys or certifications.  Send and monitor return of REMET generated Supplier Surveys. Assist with managing the Approved Supplier Program, Customer Requests and document organization
  • Assist with maintaining the REMET Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program through development and implementation of an EHS Manual and the Injury & Illness Prevention Program.        
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations through training, reporting and auditing of these regulations.  Assist with the completion and submission of any safety, health and environmental required permits, licenses or annual reporting for the various facilities.
  • Keep management apprised of key environmental, safety and health issues as defined through government, industry, and trade association contacts.  Recommend, initiate, or coordinate their solutions, and follow up to verify implementation.
  • Schedule, monitor and perform facility safety inspections and monitor annual maintenance of systems and buildings per OSHA Standards by assisting with the maintenance of the Management Matrix. (i.e. HVAC, fire & security, emergency lights, extinguishers).
  • Follow all applicable ISO 9001 procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with the documented Quality System.        
  • Understand the REMET Quality Policy.
  • Maintain all required training courses and certifications for the position.

 4.       MAIN WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Internal
    1. Work with senior management enlisting their support to implement the current ISO 9001 Program, quality initiatives (corrective and preventive actions) and Environmental, Health and Safety issues.
    2. Work with managers, supervisors, and front-line employees at all REMET locations to develop documentation, perform audits and implement preventive and corrective actions. Must be able to interface with all levels of staff for training initiatives.
  • External
    1. Serve as company’s assistant representative for environmental, health and safety issues at industry trade associations and coordinate any regulatory or government audits/reviews of systems/procedures.  
    2. Work with ISO 9001 Registrar to administer and maintain the ISO 9001 program at REMET facilities.  
    3. Also coordinate with consultants hired for training or regulatory reporting.
    4. Work with contractors and 3rd party providers to manage the inspections and calibrations of required equipment.

5.       ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  •  Physical Functions:
    1. All work must be done by a person capable of remaining stationary for long periods of time when required as well as being able to travel and stand for long periods.
    2. Individual must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
    3. Employee must be able to lift 40 pounds occasionally.
    4. Daily duties would also include sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and stretching.

  •  Physical Functions:
    1. Individual must be able to work in environments varying in temperatures depending upon the climate of the area.
  • Mental Functions:
    1. Position requires basic knowledge of products and their use.
    2. Position requires the ability to effectively communicate with customers/suppliers and contractors and all other company departments.
    3. Individual must be able to navigate their way through a full day of air, car, and/or train travel.
    4. The position requires a thorough understanding of company sales policies to ensure consistent and appropriate application and communication to customers.
    5. Individual must be able read and write in English.   Bilingual would be preferred.

6.       PROBLEM SOLVING COMPLEXITY:

  • This position works within established Company policies.  
  • The position is primarily focused on solving cross-functional issues.  These may range from internal/customer corrective actions to an environmental, health or safety issue that impacts our business or work environment.  As well as addressing all Food Safety issues.
  • This position has the authority to develop procedures and supporting documentation but relies on a defined hierarchy of sign-off approvals.  
  • The incumbent routinely evaluates training needs/materials. 

6.       KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE:

  • This person must pass Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) training and have an understanding of a Food Safety Program and its requirements.
  • The incumbent must have in-depth knowledge of the ISO 9001 Standard obtained through ISO Lead Auditor Training, ISO Internal Auditor Training, or experience, along with three to five years of experience in the quality assurance and system auditing fields to provide a solid background to implement and monitor quality programs.  
  • Reasoning Ability – Must be capable of making good decisions relevant to job requirements and referring higher level decisions to a manager.
  • The job holder must have strong planning, organizational, verbal, and written communication, and human relations skills. 
  • Ability to multitask is critical. 
  • The incumbent must be detail oriented, highly organized and computer literate with the ability to efficiently use all Microsoft software. 
  • The incumbent must also have broad knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations affecting environmental, health and safety as well as ability to seek information from a variety of sources to keep current with changes and newly issued mandates.

6.       KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE CONTINUED:

  • Individual must be able to work in environments varying in temperatures depending upon the climate of the area. 
  • Bilingual English and Spanish speaking would be a plus.
