Position Summary
The Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that the agency adheres to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and industry standards related to debt collection practices. This position oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of compliance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure that the agency operates within legal boundaries while maintaining ethical standards. The manager will also be responsible for training staff, conducting audits, managing risk. This role requires a strong understanding of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) regulations, and other relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, develop, and implement compliance policies and procedures.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments.
- Provide training and support to staff on compliance matters.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage compliance reporting.
- Manage Collection Correspondence Development & Revisions.
- Investigate and respond to CFPB and BBB inquiries.
- Investigate compliance issues and develop corrective action plans.
- Interact with executive and departmental management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3 years of experience in compliance management, preferably in the debt collection or financial services industry.
- In-depth knowledge of FDCPA, CFPB regulations, and other relevant compliance frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
