Company Overview:
Remington Property Management located in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore City, MD is seeking a highly organized and experienced Property Management Bookkeeper to join our team on a temporary and contractual basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with property management and Appfolio experience who is looking for a short-term role in a fast-paced environment.
Job Description:
As a Temporary Property Management Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining financial records for multiple properties, ensuring accurate and timely accounting, and managing tenant billing and payment processing. This role requires a strong understanding of property management accounting principles, along with proficiency in Appfolio software to track transactions and generate reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform bookkeeping duties related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger for multiple properties
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and balance accounts on a regular basis
- Process tenant rent payments, fees, and other charges accurately and timely
- Generate and review financial reports using Appfolio, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- Communicate with tenants, vendors, and property owners regarding billing issues, payments, and discrepancies
- Manage and update property financial data in Appfolio on an ongoing basis
- Handle additional administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in property management bookkeeping or accounting
- Strong working knowledge of Appfolio property management software
- Familiarity with general accounting principles and financial reporting
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Previous experience working in a property management company preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Appfolio experience
- Prior experience with tenant billing and reconciliation processes
We are looking to hire in January with the position lasting 2-3 months. If you have Bookkeeping and Leasing Experience, you are encouraged to apply as there may be a longer term position available.
Pay Scale:
Independent contractor $20-24 an hour, 32-38 hours a week
