POSITION SUMMARY :
The Structural Engineer position is for a design professional with 4 years of experience. This individual will design a variety of structural building projects (owned by municipalities, school districts, utilities, housing authorities and private clients) and will report directly to the Department Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES :
- Perform structural calculations and modelling for new and existing buildings, retaining walls, and other structures related to Buildings.
- Maintain strong technical knowledge of design techniques, procedures, regulations, materials, and specifications.
- Perform independent, complex engineering calculations and prepare construction plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Coordinate with a team to prepare technical reports and construction drawings.
- Periodically perform field inspections.
- Participate and support client meetings.
- Perform research in support of developing design solutions.
- Ideal candidate is an individual who is highly proactive, detail oriented, has good written and oral communication skills.
- Exercise good judgment in following standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related design tasks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions. Work requires frequent and prolonged computer use. May occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
