Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality drawings within the provided design software
  • Assure proper assignment of materials for assemblies
  • Revise existing drawings (both basic and complex) based on field dimensions and Architectural/Contractor markups for production; Ensure design software has accurate machining for production
  • Takeoff materials for ordering from Cabinetvision/Microvellum drawings and prepare for Procurement
  • Administer Peer Reviews on Shop Drawings and Takeoffs
  • Interpret architectural drawings
  • Team Lead / Template Manager
  • Work within a team of ~10 other engineers/drafters
  • Attention to detail is required


Education

  • Two-year degree, or higher, from a technical school or university is required
  • Relevant experience can be considered as an equivalent to a degree


Experience

  • Three or more years’ experience within the woodworking, manufacturing, or construction industry is preferred
  • AutoCAD experience is required
  • Microvellum experience is preferred
  • CabinetVision experience is preferred


Computer Requirements

  • This role requires a high-level proficiency in each of the following software programs:
    • Shop Drawing creation & Material Assignments – Cabinetvision/Microvellum
    • Architectural Drawings - Bluebeam
    • Material Information Sheets – Microsoft Word
    • Internet Software – Google Chrome
    • Communication & File Storage – Microsoft Teams
    • Email Communications – Microsoft Outlook
    • Material Takeoffs - Innergy


Language, Cognitive & Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to effectively present information and questions to Project Managers regarding project related items.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Strong ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; mentally, hand-and-paper, and calculator.
  • Strong knowledge and application of geometry.
  • Ability to think in 3D regarding millwork, trim and details.
  • Familiarity with basic orthographic drawing styles and applications, including but not limited to plans, elevations, vertical cut sections, horizontal cut sections and enlarged details.
  • Analytical skills for calculating material usage based on technical shop drawings
