Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Remora. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for driving the hardware development of system design including piping, control valves, heat exchangers, vacuum pumps, blowers, compressors, and CO2 storage subsystems in the Remora mobile carbon capture device from concept through production.
This role will lead requirement generation, component development, component sourcing, overseeing installation and commissioning/systems testing, while ensuring design deliverables meet aggressive timelines. You will work closely with our experts and suppliers to bring these systems to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and develop clear goals, timelines, and strategy for teams working on sub-systems.
- Execute strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills to drive R&D on key components.
- Grow and support less experienced team members through design and decision-making.
- Collaborate as a point person for the sub-system with other members of the Engineering team.
- Define requirements and provide design direction and decision-making for vacuum, compression, and CO2 storage subsystems based on regulations, existing standards, and new standards created by Remora.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 7 years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience with system design including industrial, bio-pharma, oil & gas, modular process skid design, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, instruments, pressure vessels, and associated interconnected piping.
- Experience leading a team of engineers to achieve design deliverables in an R&D environment.
- Experience rapidly learning about novel technologies and identifying new technologies for integration into systems.
- Experience working closely with suppliers and driving them to aggressive timelines.
