Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Grant Writer to lead the development of high-quality, persuasive grant proposals for technical and innovation-driven projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in translating complex technical concepts into compelling narratives that secure funding from government agencies, research institutions, and private foundations. This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams and a deep understanding of grant compliance and strategic proposal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grant Research & Strategy:
- Identify and analyze funding opportunities from government agencies, research bodies, and private foundations.
- Develop a comprehensive grant strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Proposal Development:
- Write, edit, and format competitive grant proposals, technical narratives, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather technical project information and ensure accurate representation.
- Develop clear, persuasive arguments that align with funder guidelines and strategic priorities.
- Technical Content Translation:
- Transform complex technical information into accessible and engaging content for non-technical stakeholders and reviewers.
- Budget Development:
- Coordinate with finance teams to create detailed, accurate, and compelling budget justifications.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure proposals comply with funder requirements, submission guidelines, and deadlines.
- Post-Award Support:
- Assist with grant reporting, documentation, and compliance requirements after award acceptance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Computer Science, Communications, Business, or related field.
- 3 years of experience in technical grant writing or proposal development.
- Proven success in securing grants for technical, research, or innovation-driven projects.
- Strong technical writing and editing skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in proposal development tools and software.
- Understanding of research methodologies and technical concepts in STEM fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a technical or writing-related field.
- Experience working with federal agencies (NSF, DOE, NIH, DARPA).
- Familiarity with M&E frameworks, intellectual property considerations, and technology commercialization.
- Knowledge of project management best practices.
