Securement Clerk

What You'll do

The Securement Clerk is responsible for the validation of units that are loaded and secured onto railcars prior to departing the intermodal facility and traveling across the railroad in a face-paced 24/7/365-day operation.

• Work as a member of a team to coordinate the workload based on the client's needs.
• Attend or facilitate pre-shift briefings.
• Complete pre- and post-shift cursory inspections of equipment
• Perform all securement verification on foot and height on an intermodal railcar.
• Ensure timely verification of cars in order to facilitate safe and on time departure of intermodal trains.
• Will have responsibility to inspect inbound arrival of trains equally and report any defects to management.
• Understand and obey all regulations and yard safety policies/procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and mechanical skills
• Strong communication skills to ensure efficient and safe day-to day operations.

What You'll Need

Required

• High School diploma or equivalent intermodal facility experience
• Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
• Efficiency and time-management skills
• Comfort with working above ground level (5-6 feet)
• Ability to walk for extended distances on railroad ballast and /or pavement.
• Ability to ascend and descend intermodal railroad equipment safely and efficiently.
• ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able/willing to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work in the presence of loud machinery.
• Ability to adjust to changing facility demands as requested due to industry needs.
• Ability to drive light duty pickup truck in an intermodal environment and display appropriate defensive driving techniques.

Preferred

• Mechanically inclined
• Commercial driver's license (CDL) (not required)
• Ability to operate or willingness to learn computer systems required for terminal dynamics.
• Willingness to work after hour call outs.
• Willingness to work any shift.
• Prior securement experience preferred (not required)

• This role is based out of Jersey City, NJ 07307
• This role requires employees to be on-site during shifts.
