As a Phlebotomist, you will play a crucial role in the diagnostic process by collecting blood samples for analysis.
Duties
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures to collect blood samples from patients.
- Ensure patient identification and proper labeling of specimens to maintain accuracy.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during blood collection.
- Provide excellent patient service by explaining procedures and addressing any concerns.
- Record patient information accurately in the laboratory information system.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure efficient workflow within the clinical laboratory.
- Stay updated on hospital policies, laboratory procedures, and best practices in phlebotomy.
Skills
- Proficient in clinical laboratory practices and procedures.
- Strong patient service skills with an emphasis on empathy and communication.
- Knowledge of human anatomy relevant to blood collection sites.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to phlebotomy and laboratory work.
