Job Title: Construction Accountant – Senior Accountant
Location: Houston, Texas (Greenway Upper Kirby Area)

Salary: $90k-$120k
Key Responsibilities:
- Monthly Draw Process:
- Oversee and coordinate the monthly draw process for the portfolio of real estate developments, ensuring compliance with funding institutions' requirements and timelines.
- Bank Reconciliations:
- Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate accounting and cash flow management across multiple construction projects.
- Draw and Reporting Packages:
- Compile, prepare, and analyze monthly draw and reporting packages, submitting them to funding institutions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor, review, and project cash flow balances for construction projects, ensuring all funding requirements are met on time and in accordance with project needs.
- Vendor & Contractor Payments:
- Prepare and execute weekly check runs to ensure timely and consistent payments to vendors and general contractors, ensuring smooth project operations.
- Process Coordination & Compliance:
- Assist in the coordination, refinement, and implementation of accounting processes and procedures, working closely with the development team to ensure alignment and compliance with company standards.
- Variance Analysis & Budgeting:
- Analyze construction budgets for individual projects, performing monthly variance analysis between actuals and budgeted figures to provide insights into financial performance.
- Loan Document Review & Compliance:
- Review loan documents to ensure compliance with lender covenants and financial requirements. Work closely with the development team to address any discrepancies or requirements from funding institutions.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with Project Managers, lenders, general contractors, and vendors regarding project status, financial performance, contract agreements, pay applications, and open receivables/payables.
- Strategic Growth Support:
- Actively participate in the implementation of strategic growth plans by supporting new projects and financial forecasting to meet long-term development goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Experience:
- 4 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a specific focus in construction management, general contracting, or subcontractor industry experience.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with other accounting software programs, construction management platforms, and ERP systems.
- Construction Draw Process:
- Strong understanding of the construction draw process is critical, including familiarity with lender requirements, cash flow management, and reporting.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues, perform variance analysis, and propose effective solutions.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, project managers, contractors, lenders, and other external stakeholders.
- Time Management & Organization:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
