The Certified Dermatology Technician is responsible for patient intake, charting for providers, and assisting with clinic procedures and treatments. Additional responsibilities include a variety of clerical and clinical tasks. Duties and Responsibilities
- Exhibit excellent patient care/customer service skills.
- Complete patient intake and medication reconciliation.
- Prepare patients for medical tests and examinations.
- Participate in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications (under the
- supervision of a provider).
- Perform suture removals, blood draws, TB skin tests, urine pregnancy tests, and IM/IL injections.
- Aide provider during examinations.
- Assist during cosmetic laser and other cosmetic procedures.
- Establish and document patient diagnosis, treatment plan, and prescriptions in the Electronic Medical Records (EMA by Modernizing Medicine).
- Educate patients and family on follow up care, medication side effects, and treatment protocols.
- Maintain adequate inventory of examination room supplies and prepare exam rooms at the beginning and end of day and between each patient contact.
- Sterilize medical instruments.
- Accomplish side work and ancillary tasks, as needed and as assigned.
- Organize and maintain storage spaces, sample products, and work areas in accordance with REN Dermatology standards and best practices, ensuring a clean, efficient, and safe environment for both staff and patients.
- Maintain safe and secure work environment by following and enforcing OSHA standards and procedures: compliance with legal regulations.Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential according to HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings and organizational programs.
- Able to flex schedule and location, when needed.

Qualifications
Education:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- 1-3 years in a medical office, preferred.
Knowledge:
- Basic nursing principles and protocols.
- Policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality.
Skills:
- Phlebotomy.
- Appropriate assessment and assistance techniques.
- Appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace, and confidentiality methods.
- Health information management by appropriately charting patient data.
Abilities:
- Work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff.
- React calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Appropriately interact with patients, families, staff, and others.
- Flexibly respond to changing demands.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize workload.
- Communicate clearly.
- Completion of Certified Dermatology Technician course within first 90 days of employment.
Working Conditions
Combination of office, exam, and other clinical settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic setting.
Physical/ Mental Requirements
Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment. Occasionally lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds. May require working under stressful conditions.
