Description
Description: The Director of Finance is responsible for managing all financial aspects of the organization including audit activities, cash flow, budgets and bookkeeping in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and current regulations. Works with the Executive Director and Treasurer to ensure that financial records are kept in a manner appropriate with non-profit accounting and as required by state, local and federal funding sources and provides reports to funders, the board of directors, and organizational leadership. Ensure that resources are managed in the most beneficial way that maximizes both impact and funding
Accounting
● Develop, implement, refine and maintain policies and procedures to improve the finance department’s overall effectiveness and adherence to internal controls.
● Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting.
● Oversee the tracking, bi-weekly and monthly reporting, and reconciliation of Renaissance’s federal, state, and local grant funds and other restricted contributions to ensure compliance with donor and grantor requirements.
● Ensure invoices to all funders are allocable and allowable according to grant guidelines.
● Oversee client billing and collections efforts.
● Review and approve all vendor invoices for payment.
● Manage the preparation for and execution of annual audits, working with external auditors and ensuring the organization adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
● Ensure compliance with all IRS, state, and federal reporting requirements, including Form 990, and other related filings.
● Supervise and mentor finance department staff, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations to ensure high performance and professional growth.
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
● Build out Renaissance’s FP&A function to provide more robust financial and KPI reporting to management and the Board of Directors.
● Monitor cash flow and ensure that the organization maintains adequate liquidity to meet operational needs.
● Collaborate cross functionally to create, monitor and maintain adequate budgets.
● Prepare and communicate the financial performance to management, the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors. This includes Monthly Budget vs Actual financial reviews, Budgets, Cash Flows and other special projects as required.
● Work with fundraising staff on Foundation grant applications, budgets and financial reports.
● Collaborate with Compliance Officer to complete Medicaid billing financial reporting requirements.
Human Resources
● Execute bi-weekly payroll for staff of ~ 100.
● Oversee the HR aspects of payroll, including updating proper employee deductions in the payroll and benefits system and ensuring allocations are current and correct.
● Oversee expense reimbursements within the HRIS are allocated to the correct grants.
● Ensure accruals for time off are correctly accounted for.
● Support policy creation and oversight.
This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of B.A., ideally with an MBA, CPA or related degree.
- At least 5 years of non-profit accounting experience; broad financial and operational management experience.
- Experience with non-profit grants management; knowledge of state and federal grants is a plus.
- Must be familiar with and able to follow GAAP, OMB Circular A-133 and OMB Circular A-122 standards.
- Knowledge of non-profit auditing is welcomed but not necessary.
- Ability to present financial data to management, Boards of Directors and Federal, State and Local agencies in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience with Financial Statement preparation, Budgets and Cash Flows. Additional FP&A experience is not required, but candidates should have a desire to grow into more robust FP&A activities.
- Direct supervisory experience is not required, but candidates should have experience leading staff members to achieve goals.

Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
