About the Position
Reporting directly to the SVP, Head of Other Property, the VP, Underwriter - will be responsible for the production, marketing and analysis of property insurance and reinsurance. Property insurance business is predominantly written through MGAs directly on our balance sheets. The property reinsurance business is written on our RenRe US balance sheet, predominantly in quota share form. This individual will have a strong US Property Underwriting background with a focus on U.S. domiciled business, with established broker and client relationships. They will be responsible for identifying and cultivating partnerships with MGAs, treaty clients, and broker relationships. This individual will be a thought-leader and seek new opportunities to deploy RenaissanceRe's expertise to solve critical issues impacting its clients.
The VP, Underwriter- US Other Property, role will be expected to work collaboratively with partners and peers across our global footprint, including Minneapolis, New York, London, Bermuda, and Zurich.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a profitable book of business. Handles day-to-day underwriting and assists in the management of our MGA partnerships.
- Build and manage client and MGA relationships. Through the audit process, ensure robust monitoring and provide advice to clients regarding the management of the business.
- Assist in recruiting and developing team members to support the growth of the business.
- Share market insights with team members regarding market dynamics including opportunities and threats.
- Maintain a high level of expertise and product knowledge to serve as a resource for clients and staff.
- Identify, design, and drive marketing synergies, by developing creative solutions to client problems.
- Maximize use of RenRe risk and underwriting tools and analytics; enhances the risk management culture within the team.
- Maintain ongoing, self-directed professional development and study.
- May manage, mentor, train and develop analysts.
