Render is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator Cybersecurity Specialist to support and manage critical IT systems for various Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) programs. This dual-role position combines system administration duties with a focus on cyber security, ensuring the protection and optimal performance of both hardware and software components.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Administration & Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain both Windows and Linux operating systems across a variety of mission-critical platforms.
- Manage and perform system backups and disaster recovery tasks to ensure data integrity.
- Create and maintain system baselines, images, and deployment processes for fielded components.
- Maintain detailed inventories of both hardware and software assets for efficient system management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues promptly, minimizing system downtime.
- Configure and manage domain integration within the new network enclave.
- Set up and maintain Organizational Units (OUs) and group policies to align with organizational structure and security policies.
- Configure and manage VDI infrastructure to ensure optimal user accessibility, performance, and security.
- Set up a syslog server for centralized logging, monitoring, and event analysis.
- Cybersecurity & Risk Management:
- Conduct regular vulnerability scans using tools such as Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and Nessus to identify system weaknesses.
- Implement patch management processes by retrieving, testing, and installing necessary patches in a timely manner.
- Apply security hardening processes in accordance with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to enhance system security posture.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with cyber security policies, procedures, and best practices in a DoD environment.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for systems, configurations, and security measures to support compliance and operational continuity.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining documentation for audits, assessments, and certifications.
Required Qualifications:
- Desired Technical Expertise:
- Proven experience administering and troubleshooting Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Strong knowledge of registry management, group policy, and system configurations for Windows OS.
- Experience in vulnerability scanning and security patch management using tools such as ACAS and Nessus.
- In-depth understanding of security hardening practices and familiarity with STIGs.
- Five to Twelve years of related experience
Security & Clearance:
- Active Top Secret security clearance.
- Active DoD 8570 Certification (e.g., Security or equivalent).
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent work experience).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in supporting DoD programs and understanding of the specific IT and security requirements for defense-related projects.
- Familiarity with managing and securing complex network and security infrastructures.
- Additional certifications such as CompTIA Network , CISSP, or other relevant cyber security credentials are a plus.
The qualified candidate must be a US Citizen with an active/current DoD Top Secret Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain. Applicant selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
