Oil & Gas operator seeking a Production Measurement Specialist with a strong background in metering and analyzers to join the team based south of Lake Charles, LA with as needed travel to support other sites.
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Production Measurement Specialistto join our team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of measurement systems, metering equipment, and analyzers used in industrial processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various metering and analytical instrumentation systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
The Production Measurement Specialist will be required to Inspect and calibrate measurement instrumentation for the facility and other facilities when required and deliver the following objectives:
- Instrumentation and Equipment Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain measurement meters and analyzers, including flow meters, pressure transducers, gas chromatographs, and other related devices.
- Conduct routine inspections, calibrations, and performance tests to ensure optimal accuracy and functionality of equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with meters, analyzers, and associated control systems.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collect and interpret data from meters and analyzers to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings, trends, and system performance.
- Provide recommendations for improving measurement accuracy and reliability.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all metering and analytical systems adhere to relevant industry standards (e.g., API, AGA, ISO) and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies and internal audit teams during inspections or certifications.
- System Optimization and Innovation:
- Develop and implement strategies for improving measurement and analytical processes.
- Stay updated on technological advancements in measurement and analysis systems, recommending upgrades or enhancements as appropriate.
- Assist in the design and integration of new systems or process modifications.
- Team Collaboration and Support:
- Provide training and technical support to operations and maintenance teams on metering and analyzer systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and management teams to ensure alignment of measurement goals with organizational objectives.
- Participate in project planning and execution for new installations or upgrades.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Under direction of supervisor or work leader, exercises independence in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard work practices and procedures
- Uses independent judgment in prioritizing and making moderately complex adaptations and modifications.
- Maintain accurate documentation of metering and analyzer systems, calibration records, maintenance logs, and relevant operational procedures. Ensure records are up-to-date and accessible for audits or reporting purposes.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
- 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial measurement, instrumentation, or analyzer and metering systems.
- Familiarity with natural gas, petrochemical, or other related industries is a plus.
- Proficiency in configuring and maintaining metering systems such as Coriolis, ultrasonic, or turbine meters.
- Strong knowledge of gas analysis equipment, including gas chromatographs and mass spectrometers.
- Experience with SCADA, PLCs, and HMI systems is highly desirable.
- Understanding of calibration methods and tools, such as deadweight testers and flow provers and master meters.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., API MPMS, AGA, and ISO standards).
- Oil and Gas experience is required, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability in managing internal and external stakeholders.
- Planning, organizational, and/or project management skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, which include technical writing.
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and standard practices.
- Equally effective working independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Strong trouble shooting experience and ability with process control equipment, field electronic devices and communication equipment.
