Job Summary:
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (RN) is responsible for overseeing and supporting clinical operations related to skin substitutes and wound care. This role involves managing insurance verifications, coordinating medical supply logistics, and ensuring seamless communication between providers and healthcare facilities. The RN will play a critical role in optimizing wound care management by leveraging clinical expertise to track medical inventory, assess patient needs, and provide guidance on appropriate treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Oversight & Patient Coordination:
- Provide clinical expertise in wound care management, ensuring proper use and application of skin substitutes.
- Serve as a liaison between healthcare providers, patients, and facilities to facilitate optimal treatment coordination.
- Assess patient needs and collaborate with providers to ensure appropriate wound care interventions.
Insurance Verification & Prior Authorizations:
- Submit and track prior authorization requests for skin substitutes and wound care treatments.
- Review documentation for medical necessity and ensure compliance with payer guidelines.
- Update providers in real-time on the status and results of prior authorization requests to prevent treatment delays.
Invoice & Skin Substitute Accountability:
- Track and manage invoices related to skin substitute applications.
- Crossmatch skin substitute product identification numbers with invoices to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain accurate records of skin substitute applications, usage, and provider allocations.
Supply Coordination & Logistics:
- Coordinate the delivery of skin substitutes to providers, CAMs, and healthcare facilities.
- Ensure providers have the necessary skin substitute products for scheduled patient wound care treatments.
- Order and manage inventory of skin substitute sizes and quantities based on provider needs and patient requirements.
Facility & Patient Status Confirmation:
- Contact healthcare facilities to confirm patients’ skilled status prior to wound care procedures.
- Communicate updates to providers to ensure proper wound care planning and treatment scheduling.
Qualifications:
- Active RN license (state-specific requirements apply).
- Experience in wound care, dermatology, or related clinical settings preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance processes, including prior authorization procedures for skin substitutes and wound care treatments.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment:
This role is primarily office-based, with potential interactions with healthcare providers and facility representatives via phone, email, and video conferencing. Some remote work flexibility may be available depending on company policies.
