Position Title: Operations Manager
Reports To: Plant Manager
Location: Port Neches, TX
Position Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a chemical manufacturing facility, ensuring safe and efficient production by managing hourly staff, optimizing processes, maintaining compliance with environmental regulations, and meeting production targets, all while prioritizing safety and quality control within the plant's operations. Perform all other Operations Manager duties as assigned. This role will also act as backup to the Plant Manager.
Position Responsibilities:
· Supervise and motivate a team of production operators.
· Manage employee scheduling and staffing needs.
· Develop and execute production plans to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
· Monitor operational metrics (yield, quality, downtime) and identify areas for improvement.
· Lead troubleshooting efforts to address production issues and minimize disruptions.
· Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products.
· Provide coordination between production operations and other support groups on bio-diesel processes and process/refinery systems to ensure safe, environmental compliance, process reliable, economical operation, and optimal and efficient systems.
· Analyze production data to identify opportunities for process improvements.
· Implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
· Collaborate with engineering teams on equipment upgrades and maintenance strategies
· Provide technical process expertise to plant operations and other groups to assure full optimization of refinery systems and processes.
· Prepare operational plans and implement production schedules.
· Takes all necessary actions to protect the facility’s operation permit.
· Identify productivity improvement opportunities to benefit plant operations
· Conduct evaluations of plant operations and utility systems, screen options, identify and investigate process bottlenecks and constraints, map system capability and rank solutions through cost-benefit analyses.
· Fully involved with process safety management (PSM) conducting process hazard analysis (PHA), management of change (MOC), and emergency relief design.
· Follow all OSHA regulations and requirements, safety program initiatives and training, and reporting and record-keeping compliance.
· Conduct performance evaluations and provide development opportunities for staff.
· Performs all other duties as assigned while managing effectively with shifting priorities, adjusting to the demands of other departments for the overall benefit of the organization.
Education and Position Requirements:
· BS degree in Chemical Engineering, or other engineering degree( Mechanical) with parallel chemical plant experience
· Significant experience in chemical manufacturing operations, preferably in a leadership role
· Expertise in chemical processing techniques, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage a diverse workforce
· Ability to make significant independent judgments.
· Ability to generate precise and accurate data/reports without significant supervision.
· Must be eligible to work in the United States in accordance with the terms of the Immigration Reform and Control Act
Essential Physical Abilities:
· Ability to wear required safety equipment, including PPE, respirator, and gloves
· Lift and move truck-loading hoses weighing 20-30 pounds
· Move, with two-wheel cart, 100-pound drums of chemicals
· Carry 20-pound tool kit to top of tank
· Climb to top of tanks and scale vertical ladders up to forty feet in height
· Work in confined spaces
· Ability to respond in emergency situations
Working Environment:
· 50% Indoors
· 50% Outdoors
