What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solar Project Site Superintendent position at Renewable Solar Inc (RSI)?
Solar Site Superintendent Position
Renewable Solar Inc is a readily growing Energy Service Provider (ESP), currently managing a portfolio of over 200 ongoing PV solar projects valued in excess of $200M with a staff of roughly 100 personnel. Renewable Solar is seeking Site Superintendents to support this growing workload. In this role, you will directly manage PV site builds and commissioning of either fixed tilt or tracker systems ranging from 100kW to 5MW and higher.
Major Duties
Primary responsibility is successfully delivering safe, quality PV solar construction on time and within project scope and budget. When assigned a PV solar build, Project
Superintendents will plan and execute projects in accordance with the plans and specifications. Project Superintendents will work closely with the RSI Construction
Management Team to employ crews, and to resource their projects with both personnel, materials and equipment necessary to construct the site. Other core responsibilities include
- Efficiently leverage RSI resources to execute scheduled work.
- Assist in the development of two week look ahead schedules and the overall master Monday.com schedule.
- Schedule QC inspections with the Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) for each definable feature of work (DFOW), and for ensuring work does not commence on subsequent activities until the proper QC inspections have been conducted.
- Maintain daily reports as well as weekly wrap up progress summaries for their respective projects.
- Scheduling final Construction/O&M walkthrough as well as calling in final AHJ inspections.
Requirements of the Position
Site Superintendents must maintain current knowledge and familiarity with Construction
Building Codes and Standards, including Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical
Trades as they pertain to PV Solar. Site Superintendents must maintain a valid driver’s
license and are expected to commute frequently between job sites, currently as far north as Merced, south to Bakersfield. Daily communication between the Site Superintendent and the Construction Manager, and minimum weekly communication with the
Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) / Safety and Training Program Manager
(TSPM) is essential.
Supervisory Controls
Project superintendents are a critical piece of the RSI Construction team, and will report to a lead Project Manager. Project superintendents are non-supervisory but have tactical day-to-day control of RSI personnel (crews) actively working on their respective job sites.
Project Superintendents receive support from Construction Managers in the form of personnel, equipment, and materials - with the Construction Manager retaining supervisory responsibility for the crew personnel. Project Superintendents receive technical support from both the Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) and the Training and Safety Program Manager (TSPM), but no reporting relationship exists between these key Construction branch members.
Site Superintendents are expected to work 40-45 hours/week, with core hours being
Monday-Friday 7AM-4PM, and available to support non-standard Overtime hours as necessary. Summer Saturday work is frequent, especially in cases where contract schedule needs to be maintained.
Evaluation Factors
Site Superintendents will be evaluated based on project driven metrics, and their ability to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget.
Pay Scale
Site Superintendents compensation is negotiable, and may be either hourly or salary, with a combination of project-based incentives. Compensation will be at market rates, based on qualifications, currently estimated between $32-$43/hour ($65k-$90k/year) incentives.
