What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assessment Specialist-Pathway to Care and Rec position at Renewal Inc?
Definition:
Engage, assess and provide guidance and direction to clients seeking Substance Use Disorder services in Renewal’s Engagement Center. This individual will provide education and information on community resources and programs for the purpose of referring individuals and family members to SUD treatment upon completion of the required assessments. Other duties include collaborating with SUD treatment and co-occurring treatment providers in the community for referral purposes as well as evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs and eliminate systematic barriers to treatment. This individual will be the primary provider of Level of Care Assessments for Individuals from the Community seeking SUD treatment and ancillary services.

Education and/or Experience:
Knowledge of Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Public Policy, or other related field; human relations skills must; should become familiar with the criminal justice system and community resources. Knowledge and experience with the substance use individual; Knowledge of co-occurring disorder; Knowledge of DSM-V, ASAM and ICD 10 Codes; Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with all levels of management, employees, and clients; ability to deal effectively with clients and referral sources; self-starting, motivated, and adept to changing technology; proven skills at problem solving, conducting research; computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets and databases; ability to communicate, and to help the clients express their own needs and aspirations. Knowledge of third party payers.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling or
other related field and 2 years’ D&A counseling experience required. Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certification preferred.
