Hand Cleaning Technician

Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Hand Cleaning Specialist to join our team at Renewal of Greater NYC, a leading restoration dry cleaner. The Hand Cleaning Specialist will be responsible for the delicate and precise cleaning of garments and textiles that require hand treatment due to their unique fabric, stains, or condition. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of fabric types, cleaning techniques, and restoration processes, ensuring that every item is handled with the utmost care and returned to its original condition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Hand Cleaning: Carefully clean delicate garments, textiles, and specialty items using hand cleaning techniques, including spotting, scrubbing, and detailed washing.
• Restoration: Restore items that require intricate repairs, including removing stains, discoloration, or any form of fabric damage, with precision and professionalism.
• Fabric Identification: Identify different fabric types and select the appropriate cleaning method to ensure the garment is properly cleaned and preserved.
• Stain Removal: Use advanced techniques and products for effective stain removal on various fabrics while maintaining the integrity of the fabric.
• Quality Control: Inspect garments for any damage, stains, or imperfections before and after cleaning, ensuring quality standards are met.
• Customer Service: Interact with customers as needed, providing updates on the restoration process and offering advice on garment care and maintenance.
• Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and protocols for handling cleaning chemicals, fabrics, and equipment, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all items processed, noting special instructions and required treatments in our proprietary software.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in dry cleaning, garment restoration, or similar hand cleaning roles is preferred.
• Knowledge of fabric types, cleaning solutions, and restoration techniques.
• Attention to detail and the ability to handle delicate or high-value garments with care.
• Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical stamina to handle garments and perform detailed work.
• Familiarity with safety standards and handling cleaning materials safely.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Maintain a required hand cleaning number daily for production

Working Conditions:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals (proper protective gear will be provided).
• May require lifting or carrying garments and materials.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

• 8 hour shift
• Every weekend
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
