The primary role of the Counselor is to support residents diagnosed with eating disorders in their wellness and recovery. Counselors provide support by promoting skill building, maintaining a therapeutic environment, and applying appropriate interventions congruent with the Unified Treatment Model.
Other responsibilities include:
- Facilitate therapeutic groups
- Document in progress notes meal compliance, behaviors, and interventions in a timely fashion.
- Monitor patient safety (including eating disordered behaviors) and intervenes with recovery-focused directives.
- Provides 1:1 contact, individual support and crisis intervention as needed
- Monitor bathroom activities and break times.
- Monitor and support residents during meals and snacks.
- Reports any changes in the residents’ physical and emotional well-being to the treatment team.
- Attend and actively participate in supervision, rounds and treatment team meetings.
Education, Competencies and Credentials:
- Minimum of Bachelors in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or similar
- Experience with eating disorders preferred, but not required
- CPR/AED certification required. On-line CPR certification will not be accepted.
Hours : 40 hours per week (Day Shift, Evening, and Overnight)
