Accounting Supervisor

SUMMARY: The Accounting Supervisor responsibilities include: the management of General Ledger Functions, some general Cost Accounting functions, the compilation and analysis of variance reporting, the review and analysis of Royalty and Advertising minimums and spending, and the supervision and management of a small team. The position is also responsible for analyzing and assisting in the production of the monthly financial reports, namely SG&A expenses.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor a small group of Financial Analysts and an Accounting Support Administrator
• Act as a resource and accounting guide to the AP and AR clerks
• Compile, review and analyze various aspects of the financial results, as needed
• Compile or direct the compilation of the monthly financial statement package, leadership team financial package, monthly business review presentations for ownership group, and bank financials
• Assist in the analyzing of financial data for unusual variances for the month
• Review and approve journal vouchers as needed
• Provide leadership to Finance team to ensure a timely month end close
• Review and analyze general ledger accounts to make sure they have been balanced
• Helps with the coordination of the year audit including providing requested documentation for auditors to ensure accurate and efficient audit
• Help with setting up the budget for new year
• Assistance with various projects, implementations and initiatives that arise over the course of business
• Help with the preparation and updating of policies and procedures, as necessary
• Adhere to company policies, including attendance and punctuality. Communicate with co-workers, management and others in a courteous and professional manner.

Education/Experience

• Required Bachelors Degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance and/or past accounting experience with demonstration of increasing responsibility and accountability.
• The position is highly analytical and team skills are a significant part of the working environment.
  
  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

• Must have strong knowledge of accounts payable practices, fixed asset accounting, general ledger systems and experience with the preparation of financial statements including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flows.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Requires strong Microsoft Office applications, specifically advanced Excel skills Must have demonstrated attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including calculations of percentages and discounts.
• Must possess strong analytical skills to distinguish discrepancies.
• Self-starter with proven experience in delivering results to an organization.
