Supervisor of Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Promote awareness by building on existing culture and programs strengths, communicating with all level employees, and promoting positive reinforcement of safety and health.
- Implement and develop multiple safety, health, environmental and quality tasks including, but not limited to, employee and contractor safety training, incident investigation, emergency response, facility security plans, waste management and quality assurance.
- Coordinates weekly safety training for all employees.
- Identify improvement opportunities of overall health and safety performance across the company and provide training to all employees.
- Prepare, complete, and submit all required OSHA, HIOSH, State of Hawaii DOH and environmental reports and/or permits in a timely manner.
- Perform periodic evaluations to ensure compliance with environmental permits, plans, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide health and safety technical expertise to the review of equipment modifications and capital installations.
- Assist Management in performing job safety analysis and perform risk assessments of critical job tasks.
- Participate in incident and accident investigations, recordkeeping, and follow-up. Make recommendations for prevention based on results of investigations.
- Develop and implement comprehensive programs and initiatives that comply with regulatory requirements and promote employee participation and accountability.
- Build upon the current quality program and procedures to ensure employees understand customers’ needs and requirements of the finished product.
- Review customers specifications of finished products by utilizing tools and documentation to verify product has been manufactured correctly.
- Researching quality variances with team members and develop a resolution to ensure future compliance during the manufacturing process.
- Run tests on the finished product to ensure it meets customers’ expectations.
- Ensure all tools are properly calibrated on an annual basis.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety.
- Knowledge of planning and organizing safety plans, procedures, and protocols.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to safety and health.
- Interface effectively with employees on all levels of the organization, outside regulatory agencies, and vendors to support safety objectives.
- Must be available to work all shifts, including early mornings, evenings, holidays, weekends, and emergencies.
- Proficient in basic computer applications and software such as MS Office programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS/BA in Occupational Health and Safety, Business, or related field.
- Manufacturing industry background.
- Experience in Quality Assurance.
- Certified safety profession designation.
- Occupational safety and health certificate or equivalent.
- Experience in policy creation and development.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Standing, sitting, walking, stair climbing, bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, ladder climbing, reaching, twisting, side bending, overhead reach.
- Must be able to move and lift 25 lbs.
- Occasionally exposed to loud noise, dust, hot and cold temperatures.
