Job Overview
Renhill is partnering with a company in Waterville to find dedicated and skilled Production Operators to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the production process, ensuring that products are fabricated and assembled to meet quality standards. This position is responsible for ensuring that one or more plastic extrusion lines are producing products that meet the quality requirements provided, ensuring that raw material levels are maintained in the machine and available to support production requirements, and following all safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for themselves and others.
Responsibilities
- Operates extrusion process equipment (i.e., continuous extruder, puller, trimming equipment, etc.)
- Operates small hand and power tools (i.e., screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, power hand-drills, routers, rivet guns, etc.) as well as powered machinery such as drill-presses, power saws, pneumatic and hydraulic punches, and other such equipment.
- Performs job assignment duties in accordance with applicable quality and manufacturing procedures, work instructions (verbal or written), good manufacturing practices and safety procedures.
- Sets up and/or adjusts production equipment as required by the job assignment.
- Mixes raw palletized plastic stock and pigments used in the extrusion process, loads palletized plastic stock into the extruder as needed.
- Conducts self-inspection of work-output in accordance with work instructions (verbal and written) and inspection plans.
- Fills out and maintains production and inspection records in accordance with job and procedural requirements.
- Determines production requirements from production orders, drawings, written specifications and similar documents.
- Counts, wraps, packages, and/or labels in-process and finished product in accordance with work instructions (verbal and written) and procedural requirements.
- Upon qualification, trains or assists in the training of new-hire and transferred personnel.
- Transfer stock and finished product either manually or by means of manually operated stock handling equipment such as handcarts and pallet jacks. May, upon successful completion of operator training and qualification, be assigned to operate a motorized lift-truck (forklift).
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned by management or immediate supervisor.
Skills
- Must be proficient with using a tape measurement to within 1/16".
- Ability to use basic measuring and inspection tools such as tape measures, steel-rules, calipers, attribute gauges, gauge blocks and pins, go/no go type gauges, etc.
- Will provide advanced training on use of other measurement tools, extrusion process and quality requirements.
- Ability to use common hand tools and to setup and operate various common powered tools and production equipment.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 55 lbs. at any given time for purposes of mixing/re-filling hoppers.
- Ability to read and comprehend production documents and simple mechanical drawings is a plus. Training will be provided.
- Familiarity with the company's quality system and applicable procedures, and the company's work and safety rules and procedures, with training.
- Ability to initiate and maintain various production reports and records, with training.
- Ability to interact positivity with supervisory personnel and coworkers.
- Ability to operate a lift-truck (forklift) (optional with appropriate training).
Education and Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience: No experience required, plastic profile extrusion experience is a plus, experienced with common hand tools and various common powered tools is a plus. Training is provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
- Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
- Will lift, push, or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- May reach able shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards).
