Basic Job Responsibilities:
The Plant Accountant is responsible for Renin's cash posting operations and other general accounting duties. The Plant Accountant will be integral in supporting the month-end close and reconciliation process, as well as the accounts payable and costing functions. Most importantly the Plant Accountant will be the key driver in ensuring all the controls and processes are maintained.
Major Responsibilities:
- Month-end journal entries and reconciliations.
- Oversee the annual inventory count.
- Provide support and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Maintain a strong SOX and control environment ensuring all procedures are followed and documented.
- Assist corporate accounting with compliance and adherence to controls for SOX.
- Duty Drawback filings and customs reporting.
- Back up Human Resources on payroll processing.
- Supervise accounts payable administrator.
- Review and approve weekly payment proposals.
- Plant costing reports.
- Works with plant manager to prepare capital expenditure requests and related analysis. Capital expenditure tracking.
- Ad hoc analysis
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of full cycle accounting including accounts payable, and or cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or plant environment.
- 1-2 years supervisory experience.
Skills
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced Excel skills
- Microsoft Dynamics NAV experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing company is an asset.
- Able to work efficiently as part of a small team as well as independently.
- Must be able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
Working Conditions
Primarily office-based but requires periodic visits to the plant floor.
