Job Summary : We are seeking a Virtual Desktop Administrator with extensive experience in VMware Horizon View to join our IT infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of our virtual desktop environment, ensuring a seamless and efficient user experience. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and manage VMware Horizon View solutions, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal performance of the virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
Key Responsibilities :
VMware Horizon View Administration :
Deploy, configure, and manage VMware Horizon View environments, including virtual desktop pools, desktops, and resources.
Administer and maintain Horizon Connection Servers, Security Servers, and other related components to ensure availability and performance.
Perform system upgrades, patches, and regular maintenance of the VMware Horizon infrastructure.
User Management & Support :
Manage user provisioning, deprovisioning, and profile management using VMware technologies like App Volumes and User Environment Manager (UEM).
Provide technical support for end-users, troubleshooting any issues related to virtual desktop access, performance, or functionality.
Monitor user experience and proactively resolve issues to ensure smooth operation of virtual desktops.
System Monitoring & Optimization :
Use VMware Horizon monitoring tools and other utilities to track system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize the virtual desktop environment for efficiency.
Monitor resource utilization (CPU, memory, storage, etc.) and perform tuning to maintain an optimal user experience.
Ensure compliance with system security standards and policies, including regular security assessments and updates.
Backup & Disaster Recovery :
Implement and manage backup strategies for virtual desktops and data, ensuring minimal downtime in the event of system failure.
Develop and test disaster recovery plans to safeguard against system failures and data loss.
Collaboration & Documentation :
Collaborate with network, storage, and security teams to integrate Horizon View with existing infrastructure.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for virtual desktop environments, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Provide training and support to internal teams and end-users on the use of virtual desktops.
Security & Compliance :
Apply security best practices to virtual desktops, including data encryption, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and secure access management.
Ensure the virtual desktop infrastructure complies with organizational security and regulatory requirements.
Requirements :
Education & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience managing and administering VMware Horizon View environments.
Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and related virtualization technologies.
Technical Skills :
Proficiency in VMware Horizon View administration, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with VMware tools such as App Volumes, User Environment Manager (UEM), and vRealize Operations.
Solid understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and networking concepts.
Knowledge of virtual machine performance monitoring and resource optimization techniques.
Certifications (Preferred) :
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) – Desktop and Mobility.
VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) – Desktop (or similar advanced certifications).
