PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Community Partner Engagement & Relationship Building
- Interact and develop relationships with community partners through exposure to communications, including, phone calls, emails and fundraising efforts
- Participate in meetings with community stakeholders and organizational partners
- Understand department workflow and the collaboration required to execute activations
Community Outreach & Fundraising Initiatives
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Reno Aces Foundation and the impact of charitable contributions
- Assist in marketing and promoting Archie’s Kids Club, engaging families and young fans
- Support the planning and execution of Education Days at the ballpark
Gameday and Event Execution
- Experience game-day operations, balancing fundraising efforts, recurring events, and game-specific setups
- Assist in community partner activations, ensuring smooth execution on-site
- Help plan and execute external events such as mascot appearances, speaking engagements, and baseball ceremonies
- Learn the flow and prioritization of responsibilities across pregame, in-game, and post-game activities
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Gain hands-on experience in community engagement for both external events and live sporting events
- A comprehensive understanding of the Community Relations department
- Community execution for both outside events and live sporting events
- Cross-department communication and teamwork to achieve organization goals
PROFFESIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND FINAL PROJECT
- This internship provides an immersive experience in sports philanthropy, event coordination, and relationship management, making it an excellent steppingstone for a career in community relations, nonprofit management, or sports marketing
- At the intern will draft a summary report highlighting key takeaways and how these experiences can be applied to future career opportunities
TIMELINE
The Community Relations internship will begin March 1, 2024, and will conclude on September 27, 2024, following the end of the Reno Aces regular season.
HOURS
This intern is encouraged to be present for two (2) Reno Aces games per homestand (approx. 8 hours) and 2 days in the office (approx. 8hours). Flexibility is available for academic schedules.
COLLEGE CREDIT/COMPENSATION
The internship may be eligible to earn college credit. Internship is unpaid and is not entitled to a paid job at the internship’s end.
