Job Overview
The Shop Manager/Head Mechanic is responsible for the effective and efficient management of all shop operations. This role involves working closely with the Executive Director and Program Director to fulfill RBP’s mission and uphold the organization’s values and practices. The ideal candidate will be passionate about cycling, community engagement, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
In the Shop:
- Ensure all bike builds and repairs are completed accurately and promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and order within the shop.
- Communicate inventory levels and needs to the Executive Director and Program Director.
- Order new stock and inventory as required.
- Provide excellent customer service, ensuring all customers are fully assisted and attended to.
In Administration and Staff Relations:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure the shop staff is adequate for the workload.
- Develop and manage staff/volunteer schedules to ensure all bike work is completed and shop hours are adequately covered.
- Maintain records of volunteer information and hours.
- Keep track of weekly sales and inventory.
- Report employee hours to the payroll service every other Wednesday.
In Personal and Community Relations:
- Maintain a positive attitude and foster a fun, inclusive, and respectful environment.
- Demonstrate a passion for bicycles and related activities.
- Strive to be an integral part of the Reno cycling community.
- Empower and educate customers and volunteers about bike maintenance and cycling benefits.
- Promote sustainability by encouraging the use of bicycles as an eco-friendly mode of transportation.

Qualifications
- At least three years experience as a bicycle mechanic and manager.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.

- Experience with inventory management and ordering.
- Deep knowledge of bicycle maintenance and repair.
