This position is responsible for managing the maintenance of the facilities of the National Bowling Stadium and Reno Events Center to assure these facilities reflect a clean, safe, and pleasant environment and that events scheduled for these facilities are set, staffed, and struck in a timely, effective, and courteous manner.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains a competent and motivated workforce by hiring, training, developing, coaching, and evaluating the performance of employees. Keeps employees informed of plans, schedules, policies, and procedures that affect their job performance. Provides timely and appropriate feedback to staff on performance and work issues.
- Determine facility and staffing needs and develop programs to meet those needs.
- Develops a weekly work schedule establishing the priorities of the work, and review and adjusts the schedule to fit the scheduled event, client, and maintenance needs of the National Bowling Stadium and Reno Events Center. Makes daily assignments to employees in accordance with the written schedule and the priorities.
- Establishes annual maintenance and performance objectives set for the maintenance of the National Bowling Stadium and Reno Events Center ensuring that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe condition and well-operational condition.
- Assures team members make prompt and timely set ups for events scheduled for the National Bowling Stadium and Reno Events Center; assures events are properly staffed to enable users of the facilities to receive services and equipment safely and in conformance with the requests on the event orders, and that the event is struck in a prompt and timely manner.
- Follow up with Event Managers of the facilities prior to scheduled events to coordinate seating arrangements and set up to assure the services provided by the employees meet the needs of the client and assures the prompt and courteous correction of deficiencies.
- Trains team members and assures that each person possesses the requisite knowledge, abilities, and skills to clean, set up and strike the facilities including proper and safe work methods utilized to set up various events.
- Evaluates the quality and efficiency of team members by making regular and frequent inspections of the facility, reviewing daily work reports, and advising and directing the employees in the improvement of work production and work methods.
- Generates a monthly performance report for his/her supervisor regarding facility maintenance work activities and workload and maintains various work records related to development of such a report.
- Oversees schedules and time processing.
- Keeps up to date on the GBAC certification and cleanliness and sanitization standards.
- Ensures adherence to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes.
- Represents the Operations team in client pre-cons.
- Establishes standard operating procedures for work activities to include safety guidelines and quality and performance standards. Assures maximum production of employees in a safe manner in compliance with these procedures.
- Identifies and implements best practices, policies, processes, and procedures to achieve an exceptional level of customer care, service and support to meet NBS/REC and RSCVA’s goals and objectives.
- Supervises capital improvement projects involving RSCVA facilities.
- Implements programs to contain or reduce costs.
- Orders materials and supplies in conformance with Authority procedures and regulations. Supervises the issuance of tools, materials, and supplies to subordinates and the prompt return of tools to storage to minimize loss.
- Maintains an accurate inventory list of all tools, materials and supplies to keep proper levels of necessary items.
- Assists in the more difficult and complex work tasks to ensure proper work methods are used and worker safety ensured.
- Sets up and strikes equipment for events scheduled for the National Bowling Stadium and the Reno Events Center, including but not limited to tables, chairs, portable walls, bleachers, dance floors, barricades, furniture, staging and risers, and the like.
- Frequently operates a forklift, aerial tower, platform and scissor lifts, and other equipment for set up of these events.
- Follows up on reports of visual irregularities, discrepancies, damage, loss of property and safety concerns to supervisor.
- Maintains the grounds and parking lots by picking up trash, sweeping, blowing off loading docks & sidewalks, pressure washes walks and entryways and performs snow removal duties.
- Collaborates with leadership on reports and budgeting.
- Is knowledgeable in the RSCVA Safety Program and takes necessary steps to maintain a safe work environment. Adheres to safe work practices to prevent injuries.
- Consistently demonstrates positive, interpersonal relations with all constituencies; cooperates harmoniously with others in the accomplishment of the RSCVA’s strategic goals and objectives.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others.
- Adheres to attendance and punctuality requirements per RSCVA policy. Provides proper notification for absences and tardies. Takes corrective action to prevent recurring absences or tardies.
- Uses time effectively and constructively. Does not abuse supplies, equipment, and service.
- Observes all RSCVA and departmental policies governing conduct while at work (e.g., telephone and computer use, electronic messaging, smoking regulations, parking, breaks and other related policies).
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in setting up, and striking convention events as well as custodial work.
- At least four years’ supervisory experience in the Convention, Hospitality or Tourism industry.
- Must possess a valid Nevada Driver’s License.
- Knowledgeable in standard practices, materials, methods, equipment, and tools used in the custodial trades and for convention setup and striking.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety precautions.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must be familiar with various organizational functions, personnel practices, and techniques, including review techniques, and training methods.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to plan and organize the work of a staff of skilled maintenance workers; order materials and supplies, maintain records and prepare records.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, with staff, visitors, and vendors.
- Knowledge of GBAC Requirements
- Equipment Operator Certifications required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, bend (at neck and waist), twist, reach above & below shoulder level as needed during the shift, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- May work near moving mechanical parts.
- May work in high places and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, various room temperatures, airborne particles, chemicals, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
