Position Summary:
Position Summary: The Benefits Coordinator position is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, worker’s compensation, life insurance, flexible spending plan, 401(k) plan and retirement plan). Provide excellent customer service and quality benefit plans. Investigate new benefit programs, improve existing programs, supervise and monitor benefit administration. Design employee benefit plans. Provide analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit programs.
Duties:
- Administers and coordinates employee medical, dental and vision insurance plans; volunteer/supplement insurance plans; confers with service providers and/or staff of third-party administrators; interprets plan policy and procedural requirements, coverage documents, respond to employee questions and complaints and attempts to mediate benefit problems.
- Coordinate daily benefit processing including input of new/termination of benefits in the payroll system.
- Enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, accident and death claims, rollovers, distributions, loans, hardships, compliance testing. Perform plan audits.
- Oversee maintenance of employee benefit files and updating of employee payroll records.
- Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the forward to Finance for payment and reconciliation of monthly billing vs. payroll deductions.
- Allocate group health and dental claims experience monthly and review quarterly.
- Develop and maintain online forms. (Benefits enrollment, HR status change form, HR action form, Benefits conference, Retirement quotations, etc.).
- Understanding of the Affordable Care Act and how it affects the Colony/benefits.
- Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the Colony’s benefits package.
- Design and distribute materials for benefit orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions.
- Create and conduct presentations using audiovisual tools including power point and videos.
- Coordinates various specialized benefits programs, such as deferred compensation, cafeteria payments and leave processes, such as leave of absence, family medical leave, voluntary time off and benefits continuation during such leaves.
- Monitor donation of leave and send out notice for sick leave donations.
- Recommends and provides for the implementation of a variety of employee wellness and such as smoking cessation, weight reduction and exercise and fitness; evaluates services provided by outside contractors and the effectiveness and cost benefits of such programs.
- Provides for the dissemination of benefit plan information and changes to employees and retirees; participates in employee orientation sessions.
- Researches, compiles and summarizes a variety of information to prepare periodic and special reports related to the benefits function; prepares correspondence and a variety of reports and written materials; maintains accurate records and files.
- Use standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; drives a motor vehicle to visit various Departments, benefit provider and contractor work sites and attend meetings.
- Perform work with a record of regular attendance and punctuality.
- Must be able to travel.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of RSIC policies and procedures is preferred.
- Associates Degree or one to two years related benefits or employee benefit administration experience required.
- Excellent communication and organization skills are required.
- Project and team management/leadership skills and experience. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates. Capability of effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs. Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on the proposals (RFP’s).
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, are required.
- Knowledge of benefit contract language
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, SECTION 125, Workers Compensation, Medicare, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
- Coordinate benefit setup, deduction and compliance reporting issues with Information Systems, Human Resources, and Tax Compliance.
- The ability to work as a team with Human Resources, Actuary, Accounting, Legal, Marketing Information and Communication departments on benefits issues.
- Provide customer service to staff.
- Outside contacts include physicians, insurance companies, network providers, drug companies, attorneys, third party administrators, worker’s compensation companies, other benefits vendors and outside consultants.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or 1-2 years experience in Human Resource/Finance.
- Any appropriate combination of education and experience
- Must pass a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening and PL101-630 Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Act.

Reno-Sparks Indian Colony requires any designated candidate to complete a pre employment drug screen, criminal background check, and confirmation of professional references.

Pay: $23.21 - $28.55 per hour
