Background
R.P. Fedder Industrial is a 60-year old manufacturer and distributor of air filtration products and HVAC systems. We have two divisions. One is the manufacturing business, where manufacture specialty filters to US-based manufacturers of equipment used in healthcare, life sciences, high tech manufacturing, power and energy, food and beverage production, and more. The other is a sales and distribution business, representing leading brands in air filtration and HVAC equipment, selling primarily to large facilities in NY State in the healthcare, biosciences, high tech manufacturing, food and beverage manufacturing, education, and the public sector.
R.P. Fedder has an opening for a Sales Engineer in Central NY, based in Buffalo.
Position Summary :
The Sales Engineer position is an advisory sales person. He / she is a subject matter expert helping the end user understand and decide the technical features they should require that will best serve their needs over the decades-long life cycle of their industrial-scale system. The Sales Engineer then works with the customer’s engineering firms to design and specify the exact product configuration. Finally, the Sales Engineer works with commercial contractors responsible for installation to ensure the final implementation meets the customer’s original requirements.
The primary source of revenue is in equipment used to provide clean air into manufacturing or research environments of the highest standard, including : medical products, pharmaceutical, life sciences, semiconductor, microelectronics / optics, and industrial production environments. Products sold include clean rooms, laminar flow hoods, fume extractors, and dust collection systems. The secondary revenue source is in water filtration and hydronics (hot water and hot-water based heat), including next generation commercial-scale heat pumps.
RP Fedder has exclusive territories for many line companies, too many to list here, which can be viewed on our website.
The successful candidate will be replacing a soon-to-be-retiring veteran of 30 years. As such, he / she will be given an exclusive territory, with an extensive list of existing customer relationships extending back decades, and upwards of a year to shadow and learn from the veteran. The company has deep relationships with most all the local engineering firms, contracting firms, and many of the end user sites.
Required Skills / Experience :
Experience
- 10 yrs of demonstrated success in selling engineered products, preferably HVAC and / or clean room related.
- Track record of success selling premium value propositions in competitive markets
- Success in building new, vibrant customer relationships across multiple touch points in a target company, as evidenced by customer advocacy for the candidate
- Experience writing proposals, responses to Requests for Proposals, formal bids, etc, in both commercial and public sector environments.
