SUMMARY
We are looking for a Production Supervisor for 2nd Shift. The PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR provides daily production floor supervision for team-oriented production activities of all associates assigned to the department. Achieves production targets at specified quality levels within budgeted costs. Maintains and smoothly operates a safe working environment. Works with Engineering and Maintenance in team approach to constantly improve efficiency and productivity through training, (people development) and process re-engineering Train Machine Operators to maintain and properly operate production equipment. Maintains high morale, positive attitudes and ethical behavior among operators, supervisors, and support personnel. Demonstrates self-initiative.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties
- Maintain a safe work environment for production employees. Correct and report all safety concerns to the plant manager.
- Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean work production area.
- Provide direct production floor supervision (on the floor 70% of the day) for team-oriented production activities by assuring adequate and efficient availability and staging of raw materials, components, parts, and direct labor to smoothly achieve production targets on time and on budget.
- Provide analysis and corrective actions or variance reports provided by QAD.
- Creates production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements needed for on-time completion. Establishes or adjusts work procedures and plant schedules to meet production schedules.
- Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines at the beginning and periodically during the production run.
- Complete required production reporting (daily, weekly, and monthly) in a timely manner.
- Hire, supervise, develop, coach, mentor, inspire and train direct reports. Establish performance measures. Review and document individual job performance and attendance of department personnel.
- Promote cross-training for operational efficiency and individual advancement. Maintain at least 3 individuals trained on any given machine or process.
- Maintain high morale among department personnel and demonstrate role model behavior in all that is said and done.
- Explains work orders to lead persons and assigns duties. Delegates ownership and responsibilities to lead and line workers as needed.
- Ensure that material and labor resources are deployed in a manner conducive to optimal production of required finished goods.
- Ensure that finished goods are consistently manufactured in accordance with production and quality standards and specifications. Review and implement improvements to production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
- Participates in the development of new products and the production of samples.
- Complete all administrative assignments timely and accurately, as required.
- Order supplies as needed.
- Develop problem-solving skills and promote team decision-making.
- Recommend and implement operational and cost saving improvements.
- Analyze and address problems and key issues in a timely and diplomatic manner. Follow-up to ensure resolution is achieved.
- Provide feedback to management and other members to possible schedule conflicts, late orders and problems with production.
- Interpret company policies to workers and enforce company and OSHA safety regulations.
- Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated team player with good interpersonal and leadership skills.
- PC proficient using a database and MS Word and Excel.
Education and Experience:
- High School plus additional training equal to two years of college.
- 3 years of experience supervising in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stoop, stand and walk; use hands to feel or handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
