What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Psychologist position at Rensselaer City School District?
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid New York State Certificate to serve as a School Psychologist.
2. A Certificate of Advanced Study (C.A.S.) in School Psychology.
3. Experience in the administration and interpretation of standard psychoeducational evaluation instruments and techniques.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To improve the academic achievement, behavioral\social skills, and emotional well-being of all students through either direct contact with students or through testing and consultation with other professionals.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assessment of students as required by state and federal guidelines.
2. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems.
3. Work directly and\or indirectly with students, teachers, and parents to help resolve problems in adjustment, behavior, and learning.
4. Assists in the identification of students who qualify for services under the Committee on Special Education or 504.
5. Attends meetings on identified students when indicated.
6. Assists with in-service training of school personnel.
7. Consultation with outside agencies.
8. Keeps abreast with new developments in the field.
9. All other duties as assigned by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services or District Superintendent.
