About the role: We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Lead Painter to oversee and execute a variety of painting projects for both residential and commercial properties. As a Lead Painter, you will be responsible for leading a team of painters, ensuring the highest quality of work, maintaining safety standards, and delivering projects on time. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and excellent communication.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead Painting Projects: Supervise and coordinate painting crews to ensure projects are completed to specification and on schedule.
  • Surface Preparation: Oversee the preparation of surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, priming, and applying finishes.
  • Paint Application: Apply paint, stains, and coatings to a variety of surfaces, including walls, ceilings, trim, and other architectural features.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all work meets the company’s quality standards and customer expectations. Perform touch-ups as necessary.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and train a team of painters, delegating tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring all work is completed efficiently and safely.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Material Management: Order and manage paint and supplies according to budget, ensuring the crew has the materials needed for each job.
  • Customer Interaction: Maintain a positive relationship with customers by ensuring clear communication and addressing concerns in a timely manner.
  • Training & Development: Train and mentor other workers on the team, providing guidance on best practices, techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Job Documentation: Complete and submit project paperwork, including timesheets, material tracking, and job completion reports.

  • Complete administrative tasks in a timely manner.
  • Log hours accurately and follow proper timekeeping procedures.
  • Complete the checkout list on every job.
  • Alert the Community Manager if there are any job or neighbor notes that need attention.
  • Track and report any jobsite expenses in a timely manner.
  • Take responsibility for picking up job materials (tools, U-hauls, etc.).
  • Hold other local workers accountable for timeliness and job performance.
  • Initiate first and final job walk-throughs with neighbors.
  • Training new locals on the job 
 

Core Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of professional painting experience, including at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred 
  • Technical Skills: Extensive knowledge of painting techniques, tools, equipment, and materials. Familiarity with a variety of painting products (e.g., interior/exterior paints, stains, primers, finishes).
  • Leadership Ability: Proven experience in managing and motivating a team. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure a high level of quality and consistency in every job.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for long periods, lifting materials, and working at heights.
  • Safety Knowledge: Understanding of safety procedures and best practices for handling hazardous materials and equipment.
  • Driving History: Must have a clean driving record
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification: Formal painting certification or apprenticeship is a plus.
  • Customer Service: Experience interacting directly with customers, ensuring satisfaction and resolving issues.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges on the job site and during projects.

Time Commitment

This positionrequires a commitment of 40 hours per week. Work hours may vary based on project deadlines, with occasional evening or weekend work required. Flexibility is essential during busy seasons or for special projects.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Rate: starting at $20/hour or more based on experience
  • Compensation Schedule: Competitive, based on experience 
    • First 90-Days: Hourly, Part-Time
    • After 90-Days: Salary, Full-Time 
      • Eligible to elect for Medical, Dental and Vision benefits 
  • Opportunities for growth into other roles in the company
  • Eligible for a personally designated Surv vehicle 
  • Personal travel reimbursement of $150 per year
  • PTO as designated by current policies
