What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Adjunct Instructor / Substitute Pool position at Renton Technical College?
We are seeking applications, on an ongoing basis, for accounting adjunct instructors and substitutes at Renton Technical College (RTC). RTC offers a variety of accounting classes, including Washington’s sequence for financial and managerial accounting (ACCT&201, 202, and 203), as well as instruction in Excel, payroll, QuickBooks, and individual taxation. All classes enroll an incredibly diverse group of students who are pursuing careers in business and construction management. Most classes are offered in our FLEX modality, which offers simultaneous in-person and online instruction.
The Dean of Business, General Education, and Transfer reviews applications as needed to fill openings during the academic year. We may need instructors as soon as April 2025. This is a part-time position, and the hours and dates may vary and will be established based on assignments. This position has been designated as a bargaining unit position represented by the Renton Federation of Teachers (RFT) Employees Association.

- Demonstrated ability to promote universal design and accessibility. Proficiency in (or ability to learn within 6 month of hire) the production of accessibly content, whether print or electronic.
- A master’s degree in accounting is required to teach ACCT& classes.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting or business is sufficient to teach payroll, Excel, and taxation classes.
- Candidates with an MBA may be considered with evidence of accounting work experience.
- Skill using Excel for accounting purposes.
- Ability to design in-person and online learning experiences that are interactive and respectful of cultural differences.?
- Ability to work effectively with individuals whose first language is not English.?
- Ability to work effectively and engage with adult learners. ?
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team. ?
- Demonstrated attention to detail required as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks, and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines. ?
- Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion and courtesy.
- Ability to speak a regionally top spoken language other than English is preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, and Chinese).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working hours are generally aligned instructional needs with occasional evening and weekend work required. Work is mostly sedentary in nature. Frequent use of a computer and exposure to terminal screens is required. Work and meetings may take place across campus. This is a flex-hybrid position working both on campus and remote.

Candidates will be asked to provide documentation of unofficial transcripts of graduate coursework This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Lecture (theory) credits are compensated at $1,058 per credit, which includes scheduled class time and final exam days. All guided practice instructional credits for adjunct will be paid with an additional pay factor of 1.33. Future advancement in base salary, up to the current maximum of $1,592 per credit, is based upon a combination of years of service accrued at our college and professional development activity.
Degree Stipend:Master’s or Doctorate degree stipends are paid on a prorated per credit rate.
