Position Overview: Replications, Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic, highly skilled activity specialists with demonstrated experience in any of the following disciplines:
- STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics)
- English Language Arts
- Fitness/Yoga
- Dance
- Robotics
- Chorus
- Music
- Drama
- Puppetry
- Visual arts, and/or
- Video
Applicants must be committed to and experienced working with elementary/middle school students and able to collaborate with other educators. Eligible candidates will be required to develop and independently provide STEAM and/or arts lessons. Hired employees may be asked to work at multiple schools throughout the week. Hired employees may be called throughout the year based on need.
Note: This is a part-time temporary position.
Responsibilities:
- Create lesson plans/curriculum for Grades 3K-5 or 6-8th students.
- Utilize their artistry to implement an inquiry and project-based approach to teaching and learning that encourages students to engage, create and reflect.
- Must be willing and available to plan with partner teachers to create lesson plans.
- Focus on blending the arts and project-based learning.
- Willingness to travel across different sites if needed
Qualifications:
- Must be working towards a BA, preferred in his/her specialty (fine arts, mathematics, science, etc.)
- Must have at least one year experience working with elementary aged students.
- Experience in a classroom setting as a teacher and/or prior activity specialist is highly preferred.
- Experience in developing inquiry and/or arts-integrated curriculum and lesson planning is highly preferred.
- Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong class management skills.
- Experience working in urban schools is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, parents,
- Understand the nuances of urban school environments and school culture.
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
- Commitment to creating a structured, predictable, and joyful environment for students
- Passionate about providing high quality education to students in an underserved urban community.
- Relentless in his/her/their drive to improve the minds and lives of the students in and out of school.
- Humble, reflective, and willing to continually improve.
