Buffalo's Fire is the online news publishing division of the Indigenous Media Freedom Alliance, a nonprofit media organization based in Bismarck, North Dakota.
They seek an experienced environmental reporter to report on the Missouri River basin, including tribal nations along the river. Tribal Nations along the Missouri River have a long and storied history with the sacred water of the Missouri.
Key Responsibilities
- Tell the stories of how agriculture and multiple uses along the Missouri River basin environmentally impact tribes.
- Explore the impact of the energy industry, particularly regarding the hydraulic Fracking industry's influence on the Missouri River, around the Fort Berthold Reservation in North Dakota.
This position is part of the Report for America reporting corps and the Mississippi River Basin Project sponsored by the University of Missouri. The reporter will be based in Bismarck, N.D.
Requirements
- A minimum of five years of experience as an environmental reporter.
- Environmental reporting experience preferred.
