JOB TITLE:   Director of Planning and Development

WORK SCHEDULE: 

Full-time (40 hours)

Monday - Friday

DEPARTMENT:  Administration

 

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

 

Reports:

Responsible to:  North Central Kansas Health Care Foundation Board of Directors; RCH Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Responsible for:  Media Coordinator and Volunteers

 

Interrelationships:   Works cooperatively with the CEO, as well as other administrative staff such as CFO, COO, and CNO, North Central Kansas Health Care Foundation Board, RCH Board of Trustee members, hospital department managers, medical staff, employees, and patients.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

This is a dual position partnership with NCKHCF and RCH.  Communicate the mission and scope of the North Central Kansas Health Care Foundation (NCKHCF) and Republic County Hospital (RCH). 

 

The Director of Planning & Development is responsible for generating financial and community support for the (NCKHCF) and (RCH). The Foundation exists to inspire and lead philanthropy that will enhance the quality and availability of health care services for the patients and communities served by those entities.  This position will oversee all operations of the healthcare foundation, including managing fundraising initiatives, grant writing activities, marketing, community outreach programs, and donor relations.  With the primary goal of securing funding to support healthcare needs of our community. 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: 

●     Previous experience in a health care setting preferred/not required.

●     Minimum of three years experience in journalism, communications, PR, marketing in a major corporation or not-for-profit association preferred/not required. 

●     Minimum of two years experience in management preferred/not required.

●     Proven experience in fundraising, grantwritting, and/or  donor relationship management.

Education:

●     Bachelor degree in Business Administration Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field.

 

KEY COMPETENCIES:

●     Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and leadership skills.

●     Organizational, planning, time management and prioritizing skills.

●     Strong understanding of the healthcare landscape, community needs, and relevant policy issues.

●     Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relationship management.

●     Proficiency in MS Office software.

●     Ability to interpret and apply government regulations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

●       Develop and execute the Foundation's strategic plan, aligning with healthcare priorities and community needs.

●       Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including annual appeals, special events, planned giving, and grant proposals.

●       Successfully meets any fundraising goals established annually by the RCH Board of Directors and/or NCKHCF Board of Directors.

●       Cultivates positive relationships with existing donors, potential donors, board members, Republic County Hospital Staff, providers, and community leaders.

●       Assists the Foundation Board in the development and implementation of a Foundation strategic plan each year that aligns with the goals set forth in the RCH Board of Directors strategic plan.

●       Stays current with trends, innovations, issues, and best practices in development, board relations, fundraising, and the healthcare industry.

●       Effectively utilizes technology in order to efficiently raise funds, improve processes to lead the Foundation’s daily operations.

●       Serves as an active and consistently visible public relations ambassador of the NCKHCF.

●       Assists with hospital events and projects and serves in leadership and membership roles on hospital committees as needed.

●       Provides the RCH and NCKHFC Board of Directors with the information, support, and tools necessary to make sound decisions on fundraising, grantwriting and program activities. .

●       Promotes the mission of the NCKHCF through leadership and participation in community events.

●       Prepares monthly, annual, and special committee meetings and communicates these meetings with Foundation board members.

●       Manage the grantwriting process, including due diligence, site visits, and grant disbursement.

●       Manage donor relationships, providing regular updates on the impact of their contributions and develop and grow a donor recognition program.

●       Helps develop a budget for the NCKHCF Foundation in conjunction with the NCKHCF Financial committee members and Treasurer.

●       Identify and cultivate potential major donors, corporate partners, and grant opportunities.

●       Review grant proposals, evaluating their alignment with the Foundation's mission and strategic priorities.

●       Monitor the effectiveness of funded programs through performance metrics and evaluation reports.

●       Advocate for policies and initiatives that promote health equity and access to quality healthcare.

●       Educate the community about the foundation's mission and programs through communications and outreach efforts.

●       Responsible for developing and implementing a marketing strategy plan, as well as all branding activity for the organization.

●       Create standardized marketing practices and procedures, specific advertising and PR.  

●       Accountable for media relations and acts as the facilities spokesperson for public relations events only.

●       Maintains the highest standards necessary to protect the image of RCH and its logo.

●       Oversees the production of all marketing material produced internal or external.

●       Oversees content on the RCH website and all social media platforms.

●       Participates in community activities (e.g. volunteerism) to increase awareness of the RCH and strengthens community links.

●       Recruits, develops, and coordinates volunteer opportunities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

●     Light physical effort (lift/carry up to 15 lbs.)

●     Occasional standing/walking
