JOB TITLE: Purchasing Assistant
REPORTS TO: Directly responsible to the Purchasing Manager

Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with all hospital departments.
JOB SUMMARY:
A Purchasing Assistant is a professional individual who assists in the procurement process by monitoring stock levels, researching vendors, submitting and tracking orders, and maintaining purchasing records. They play a crucial role in ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of supplies and equipment based on the organization’s needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Duties:
- Performs office duties including: opening up the department if arriving first, check voicemail and email messages, answering the phone and check mail in media room.
- Maintain knowledge of purchasing program and assist with placing supply orders.
- Following Pyxis protocol: printing report and stocking supplies daily and as needed.
- Clerical and administrative tasks would sometimes be required.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with all internal departments, the management team and medical staff.
- Work with hospital management staff to procure the appropriate supplies and equipment within the agreed time frames.
- Ensure that employee and patient safety is a primary concern in the selection of equipment and supplies.
- Coordinates the standardization of supplies and equipment within the organization.
Typical Working Conditions:
- Occasionally exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases.
- Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
- Occasionally exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness)
- Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
- Possibility of cuts or burns from equipment.
- Possibility of strains due to lifting or aiding with patients.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: Working knowledge of medical terminology, six months experience in health care desired
- Education: High school graduate
- Cert./Registration: N/A
