What You’ll Do
As a Special Education Teacher, your work will focus on the following:
Drive Academic Results
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that align with RePublic’s curriculum framework and Common Core Standards.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies and tools to meet the diverse learning needs of scholars with disabilities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to provide inclusive and effective learning experiences for scholars.
Foster a Collaborative Culture
- Partner with colleagues to analyze student data and adapt instruction to ensure all scholars are supported and challenged.
- Participate in weekly professional development sessions, embracing constructive feedback to continuously improve your craft.
- Share expertise and strategies with colleagues, contributing to a culture of growth and shared accountability.
Provide Specialized Support
- Monitor and track progress toward IEP goals, using data to inform decisions and adjust strategies as needed.
- Deliver direct instruction and interventions in small group or one-on-one settings.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to special education services.
Cultivate Meaningful Relationships
- Build trust-based relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive school environment.
- Maintain regular communication with families regarding progress, goals, and ways to support learning at home.
- Advocate for the needs of scholars with disabilities, ensuring they have equitable access to all educational opportunities.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- Valid teaching certification in special education or enrollment in a state-accredited Alternative Certification Program by the start of employment.
- Preferred: Previous experience teaching special education, particularly in underserved communities.
