What You’ll Do
As a Computer Science Teacher, your work will focus on the following:
Drive Academic Results
- Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned computer science lessons that include foundational programming, computational thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Use data to monitor scholar progress and adjust instruction to ensure mastery of computer science concepts.
- Inspire scholars to explore careers in technology and develop a love for learning in the digital world.
Foster a Collaborative Culture
- Partner with colleagues to create interdisciplinary projects that integrate computer science with other subjects.
- Participate in weekly professional development sessions, embracing constructive feedback to continuously improve your craft.
- Share best practices and tools with colleagues to foster a school culture of growth and innovation.
Provide Specialized Support
- Introduce scholars to various programming languages, tools, and technologies to build their skills and confidence.
- Incorporate hands-on learning opportunities, such as coding projects, robotics, and app development, to deepen engagement.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure instruction is relevant and future-focused.
Cultivate Meaningful Relationships
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive school environment.
- Communicate frequently with families regarding scholar progress, fostering a partnership in their child’s success.
- Encourage scholars to pursue STEM-related opportunities, competitions, and extracurricular activities.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- Preferred: Teaching certification in computer science or related field, or enrollment in a state-accredited Alternative Certification Program by the start of employment.
- Strong technical proficiency and knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scratch, etc.) and tools.
- Preferred: Previous experience teaching computer science or technology courses, particularly in underserved communities.
