The (Very Important) Fine Print

Qualifications/Certification.
-
All teachers must hold a Bachelor’s degree upon employment.
-
Teachers in our schools must meet certification requirements by employment commencement. This can be achieved in a few ways:
-
Possession of a valid Mississippi teaching license with the required content endorsements.

Holding a valid teaching license transferable from another state with reciprocity to MS.
-
Enrollment in a state-accredited Alternative Certification Program by the first day of employment and having successfully passed the content related praxis exam within the last 5 years.

Prior Experience.
-
Highly preferred: Previous experience teaching in an elementary school, working in low-income communities, and a demonstrated ability to elevate the academic performance of underserved scholars.

Essential: A strong commitment to addressing historical inequities based on race and class in the American South.

Placement. Elementary School Teachers will lead classes at Smilow Collegiate or Revive Collegiate.
