JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Cultivation reports to the COO and is a senior management team member. As the executive leader, you will be responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the cultivation facility and accountable for overseeing day-to-day operations throughout the cultivation facility, ensuring compliance and optimal output meeting the company's production demands. In addition, the Director of Cultivation is responsible for developing, implementing, and supervising all cultivation activities at the facility and overseeing all cultivation and post-harvest employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Oversee and manage the day-to-day activities of cultivation staff required to keep the facility clean, compliant, and operating efficiently to provide a steady, uninterrupted supply of clean and potent cannabis.
· Oversee implementations of cultivation methods, policies, procedures, and best practices.
· Responsible for developing applicable SOPs, training staff, and keeping up to date with applicable laws and regulations changes.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, local laws and Cannabis Control Commission regulations.
· Manage genetic flower mix to drive high yields and low cost of production, and provide retail stores with a sufficient amount of strains and diversity.
· Determine the total yields of each harvest batch and strains from that batch and catalog the output of each strain for each harvest batch and compare it to subsequent harvest batches to determine the best strains to use for optimal yields and potency values for the future batches.
· Create accurate and reliable harvest estimates based on preliminary harvest data.
· Develop and implement year-over-year budgets for the cultivation division.
· Reduce expenses/increase productivity resulting in increased efficiencies.
· Manage direct reports regarding the implementation of the planting and harvesting schedules.
· Ensure all employees follow industry-standard health and safety guidelines.
· Implement effective capacity plans in all facets of the growing, harvesting, and driving processes.
· Implement and manage an effective IPM program.
· Manage and monitor environmental conditions/settings, water/feed schedules/volumes, and adjust as necessary
· Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity.
· Guide leadership team with compliance with all company policies.
· Responsible for leading a lean manufacturing execution.
· Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in cultivation and 3 years in a supervisory capacity
· Excellent project management skills
· Must have extensive knowledge of irrigation, injection, and growing methods, including in-depth knowledge of PH, PPM, and EC counts
· Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
· Experience with Good Agricultural Practices and Good Handling Practices
· Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well in a group setting
· Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, METRC and Dutchie
ADDITIONAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's Degree desired in the agricultural sciences area or business
· Greenhouse experience required
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
· Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
· Ability to pass all required background checks to work with cannabis
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be able to push, pull, move, or lift a minimum of 25lbs to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, transfer, or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance.
· Must be able to work seated/standing as appropriate at workstations for extended periods, maintain body equilibrium while climbing ladders, stairways, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and use hands/fingers to hold, grasp, turn, pick, pinch frequently/constantly to complete tasks.
· Must be able to handle organic matter daily, able to wear PPE as appropriate (eye, face, hand, arm, head, foot, body, fall protection), and able to be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions while wearing PPE (95 degrees or greater).
