reSAWN TIMBERis currently seeking a skilled Moulder Operator to join our team. In this role, you will operate a high-speed multi-head wood moulding machine, ensuring the highest quality in production. The employee will operate the wood moulding equipment and any other supporting equipment or operation(s), maintain production records, and communications associated with equipment activities, products, and customer specifications. He/she is responsible for the moulder, its technical condition, safe operation, and performance in product quality and output. You will also help train an assistant, with the goal of them becoming capable of independently operating the moulder. This is a new operation for reSAWN TIMBER. Ramping up to full-rate production will take 12 to 18 months as we transition from external vendors to our in-house operation. During the ramp-up, this person will support other tasks/operations within the Lumber, Woodshop, or Production departments as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow all plant safety and environmental policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment
Set up and operate the moulder, ensuring optimal production rates and quality
Keep the machine and work area clean and organized, clean, with a focus on attention to detail
Monitor materials to minimize scrap and waste, promoting efficiency throughout the production process
Read and interpret technical drawings, shop orders and routing, and SOPs to ensure quality standards are met
Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis for any issues with the molding machine
Assists material handlers with the movement of RAWMA, WIP, and finished materials
Maintain accurate production records/ data and report outcomes
Monitor and maintain the correct knives and ensure they are always ready for use
Train and mentor a Moulder Assistant, supporting their growth and development
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- High school degree or equivalent
- 3-5 years of professional experience with wood moulders: programming, set-up, and operation
- Experience operating a forklift
- Strong familiarity with Google Suite of software
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and tolerances
- Strong math skills including metric measurements, fractions, conversions and more
- Experience working with various species of wood
- Coachable, team-oriented, and proactive
- Physical stamina for bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing and walking
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experienced operating Weinig Powermat 1500 moulders
- 3-5 years of experience in wood finishing or custom woodwork
- Fluency with AutoCAD
- 2 years of experience working with industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment
