What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fulltime Account Clerk position at Rescue Mission?
The Rescue Mission is seeking a Full-time Account Clerk to join our Finance Dept. in Syracuse, NY. The Account Clerk will assist in the procurement process to receive, check, and record incoming shipments of goods and supplies, ensuring the items match purchase orders by verifying quantities, condition, and documentation against packing slips and invoices. This position will also coordinate donation pick-up and supply delivery services, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to. The Account Clerk also assists in the performance of other accounting responsibilities including grant vouchering and accounts receivable. The Account Clerk will offer outstanding customer service to all the Rescue Mission’s locations and provide excellent administrative support to the Management team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receiving, checking, and recording incoming shipments of goods, ensuring the items match purchase orders by verifying quantities
- Communicate with procurement manager, staff, and vendors
- Assist Procurement and Accounts Payable with follow-up on open purchase orders
- Assist with donation and other supply pick-ups or deliveries
- Assist with vouchering grants, as needed
- Assist with accounts receivable invoicing and A/R tracking, as needed
- Cross coverage as needed for other Accounting positions
- Responsible for responding to client and vendor inquiries and deliver great customer service in a professional, polite and efficient manner.
- Support financial guidelines and internal controls at the Rescue Mission.
- Reports ongoing deliverables to CFO
- Promotes a safety-first attitude by setting a positive example and ensuring all employees are following safety policies and procedures
- Perform other necessary accounting duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Associate degree desired or minimum of three years accounting/bookkeeping experience
- Must be able to work independently as well as thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environment.
- Must have the ability to approach situations with a problem-solving methodology.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License in compliance with company driving criteria is required.
- Knowledge of MS products a plus (Excel & Word)
- General working knowledge of Accounts Payable
- Attention to detail is critical
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in fast paced, client focused, dynamic environment
- Accounting work experience
- Sales/use tax knowledge
Pay:
$17 - $19 per hour
